Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass (2025)

A spectral train ride along an abandoned branch line carries Jozef to a remote Galician sanatorium, where he hopes to see his ailing father. On arrival, he discovers the institution in a state of decay, overseen by the enigmatic Doctor Gotard. The doctor explains that although Jozef’s father has died back home, here his death has not yet taken place, for time in this place always lags behind by an uncertain and immeasurable span. Jozef gradually comes to understand that the sanatorium exists in a liminal realm—suspended between dreaming and waking—where neither time nor events can be grasped in concrete terms.
